Good Bye to Mr. Gil Scott Heron...my all time favorite spoken word poet and musician.....I went to see him in a concert with my friend Gary...where we were the only 2 non "African-Americans".....what an amazing Man....good bye Gil....

Gil Scott-Heron (born April 1, 1949 -- May 27, 2011) was an American poet, musician, and author known primarily for his late 1960s and early 1970s work as a spoken word soul performer and his collaborative work with musician Brian Jackson. His collaborative efforts with Jackson featured a musical fusion of jazz, blues and soul music, as well as lyrical content concerning social and political issues of the time, delivered in both rapping and melismatic vocal styles by Scott-Heron. The music of these albums, most notably Pieces of a Man and Winter in America in the early 1970s, influenced and helped engender later African-American music genres such as hip hop and neo soul. Scott-Heron's recording work is often associated with black militant activism and has received much critical acclaim for one of his most well-known compositions "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised". On his influence, a music writer later noted that "Scott-Heron's unique proto-rap style influenced a generation of hip-hop artists".

Winter in America is a studio album by American soul musician and poet Gil Scott-Heron and musician Brian Jackson, released in May 1974 on Strata-East Records. Recording sessions for the album took place on three recording dates in September and October of 1973 at D&B Sound Studio in Silver Springs, Maryland. The album served as the third collaboration effort by Scott-Heron and Jackson following the latter's contributions on Pieces of a Man and Free Will. As the first record produced by the two musicians, it was also the first of their work together to have Jackson receive co-billing for a release. The album features introspective and socially-conscious lyrical content by Scott-Heron and mellow instrumentation and soundscape stylistically rooted in jazz and the blues, which produced a fusion of bluesy jazz-based vocals and Jackson's free jazz arrangements. The album is also one of the earliest known studio releases to contain proto-rap elements such as a stripped-down production style and spoken word-vocalization.

Philly Open 2011

The 2011 Philly open was held this weekend at Sedgely Woods in Fairmount Park in the City of Brotherly Love. It was a sold out Tier -B event with over 100+ participants. Maggotx competed in a very tough 10 man field of Advanced Grandmasters. The rains ended and the weather was beautiful.....sunny mid 60's with a soft breeze.....awesome.

After the first round I was on the Lead card and tied for first place. It was a tough layout and my putting wasn't quite stellar, however I managed to claw my way into first place and hold on to win 1st place by a stroke...!!!!.I also managed to take the CTP prize, a sweet Pro katana.....As always all of the players were a great crowd to play with. I am very pleased with this win as I think this is probably my biggest disc golf win. I'm feeling a little sore today after 40 long holes of disc golf but it was well worth it....

Philly Open 201 Prizes and Player package. The player package was a t-shirt from Skyline Disc Golf and your choice of disc (I selected a Discraft Glide)....The winings were a $65.00 value disc selection of you got to pick out from the items for sale. Iran Claims They've Built A 'Flying Saucer'

An official state-run Iranian news agency claims that the country has created the world's first 'flying saucer.'

In the official announcement on Fars' website, the news agency claimed the craft was unveiled to Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamene in a special ceremony last week. The unmanned craft is aparently intended largely for aerial imaging.

The saucer, named "Zohal" (which translates to "Saturn" in Persian) is reportedly part of a "new generation of vertical flyers," according to the Daily Mail.

From the original release:

Zohal, designed and developed jointly by Farnas Aerospace Company and Iranian Aviation and Space Industries Association (IASIA), can be used for various missions, specially for aerial imaging.

The flying machine is equipped with an auto-pilot system, GPS (Global Positioning System) and two separate imaging systems with full HD 10 mega-pixel picture quality and is able to take and send images simultaneously.

Zohal uses a small, portable navigation and monitoring center for transmission of data and images and can fly in both outdoor and indoor spaces.

The picture shown above accompanied the release, though it does not state that it's an actual picture of the machine. PopSci suggests that this alternate release, issued by the Iranian Students' News Agency has a more accurate depiction of the craft.

That afternoon, a man named Christopher Lee replied. He used a Gmail account that Rep. Christopher Lee has since confirmed to be his own. (It's the same Gmail account that was associated with Lee's personal Facebook account, which the Congressman deleted when we started asking questions.)
By email, Lee identified himself as a 39-year-old divorced lobbyist and sent a PG picture to the woman from the ad. (In fact, Lee is married and has one son with his wife. He's also 46.)

It's Field Hockey Season..!!!!....so Maggotx and the Missus have been visiting the Field Hockey Twins at their various Venues throughout th East Coast.... This has diluted playing time from Disc Golf as well as THE BLOG.....So therefore the need for the Ketchup post....So....Without further ado......here is what I have been up to...

Visited Salisbury MD for a Field Hockey Invitational. In between games visited the very nice Schumaker Pond DG Course. This is a very nicely constructed compact course, with a pond on one side and trees throughout. However, you need to watch out for kids playing in the park. Really nice to play when nobody is around.

Maggotx and Mrs. X went on a two day sojourn to VA to watch Field Hockey Teams do Battle in the scathing heat of the Virginia Shenandoah valley. JMU had a very nice field with a great view of the mountains....impressive...

We stayed at a gorgeous brand new Residence Inn by Marriott ....really cool room layout...complete with LG flatscreen and iHome wake-up alarm.

While in VA we managed to get a round of Disc Golf at the beautiful Westover DG course in Harrisonburg VA. This was a really nicely laid out suburban park. Nice teeboxes, baskets, the layout flowed well and was easy to follow. Luckily it was hot when we [played and there were few people walking about. It could be a problem on busy days. But I would give it a 4.5 out of 5. Nice elevation changes and some beautiful views of the mountains. pics below:

Apologies to the Loyal Blog Readers....BUT Maggotx and the Missus were on VK at the Family Compound in Miami Beach Florida.......A gorgeous condo owned byMom and Dad....It was nice to get out and relax with minimum worries....!!!

To Begin with we flew to Miami during Tropical Storm Bonnie...which due to the heavy rains and wind, caused us to be diverted to Orlando.....above is a photo of the impending storm....!!

Another Jersey Jam was held this weekend at the Rutgers/Cook College Disc Golf Course....Thanks to B.O.B, Kit B,. Jeff and Hope along with the other Disc Devils. This great course only hosts a few tournaments all year......BUT , they are one of the most enjoyable in the whole country....Good people,,,,good atmosphere,,,good course....and one of the oldest courses in the country..The AM's play on Saturday and the Pros play on Sunday....a PDGA Tier B event.....

Anyway...Maggotx faced a tough and determined group of 7 other Grandmasters from the Tri-State area.....Maggotx was able to persevere and took 1st Place in the Grandmaster Division.....also taking a CTP (Closest to Pin) on hole #6 ..Here are some photos....

One of America's most enduring superheroes has begun a cross-country trek in Philadelphia.

In the pages of DC Comics' latest issue of Superman, which hits stands Wednesday, the Man of Steel embarks on a yearlong journey of more than 1,000 miles with a single step. But for all his strength, insight and intelligence, he still has a thing or two to learn about geography.

The 500 block of South 48th Street (less than 2 miles from the Miggy G's residence) is described as the city's "South Side," though no such neighborhood exists in Philadelphia. The area is actually a section of west Philadelphia known as University City, and the flub has generated a little bit of good-natured ribbing from locals.

This is really supposed to be Philadelphia?

"They didn't do very well, but they tried," Robert Lefevre, manager of Brave New Worlds comic book store downtown, said with a laugh. "Maybe they confused us with Chicago, which has a South Side. And 'Philly cheese steak sandwich,' nobody says that." Still, he said customers are responding positively to the issue and sales have been brisk.

Superman's next stop is Detroit, where issues like unemployment and poverty will be woven into a superhero story line, DiDio said. Subsequent locations will be determined based on a recently completed essay contest that asked fans to write about their town and how Superman inspires them.

The next day we played Disc Golf at Simonds park in Burlington Massachusetts. It was a very pleasant and challenging 9 hole course. The only downside was the Poison Ivy undergrowth if you didn't stay in the Fairway....and as the Blog readers know...Maggotx has trouble staying in the fairway.... anyway here is some info on Simonds Park.

Fun little course

Pros: Convenient location, decent variety, good baskets, tons of parking, good lines on all holes will make you use a variety of shots, good use of space, skatepark/playground/etc. also in the park.

Cons: Short, all par 3, poison ivy in the summer is everywhere, undergrowth needs to be removed from rough (p.i. and lots of tiny trees trying to grow up), people walking dogs through course, some trash

Other Thoughts: This course reminds me of a mini-amesbury as it is nestled into a pine forest for 7 of the 9 holes (other two are open field holes). It is short and won't test your arm, but does offer some challenging shots for birdies (I was stoked to birdie #5 by parking the basket with a Wasp, this is a great hole). The 330' open field shot does let you see if you really can throw over 300 feet like you think you can :-)
Will be a great little course with more TLC, teeboxes and clearing of the underbrush. Not much fun in the summer with all the poison ivy! It would be great to see a few of the holes made a bit longer or have alternate tees, esp #6 and #7 could be backed up some. #7 is nice but would be an even better challenge if set back about 30ft further so you have to throw through those first two trees. #8 could also be moved back into the corner a bit more perhaps?

Last week the Central Jersey Disc Golf Alliance (EXIT 8 Disc Golf...?) Regulars got together at Max's DE Bunker Hill to set the course record for the new 27 Hole round. As expected, Max took 1st place with Tom K and Tim E. giving him a run for his money. Maggotx was berated by the course Pro for not "Staying in the Fairway" on a number of the long holes.....Sorry Max I'll try to live up to your expectations and throw my Putter instead of my Driver.....

24 is an American serial action/drama television series starring Kiefer Sutherland as special agent Jack Bauer, produced for the Fox Network and syndicated worldwide. The show is presented in the semblance of real time, with each 24-episode season covering 24 hours in the life of Bauer. First broadcast on November 6, 2001, the show ran for 192 episodes over eight seasons, with the series finale broadcast on May 24, 2010. In addition, the television movie 24: Redemption was broadcast between seasons six and seven, while a feature film is also planned.

Bauer is the only character to have appeared in all eight seasons, as well as appearing in every episode of the series. As previously stated...I played in the Philly Open...One of the best tournaments in the US (my Opinion)...anyway, over 100 players signed up...people had to be turned away....we had 6 players in the Advanced Am's....after the first round Maggotx had a Stellar 65 out of 20 holes....!!!! In the lead in the top card ...I began the 2nd round feeling rather cocky.....unfortunately, all the other players had placed a target on my back and began the un-relentlessness attack......I shot a crappy 2nd round and dropped my 1st place status on the last hole...!!!!....Anyway...I tied for 2nd place and was humbled....Congrats to Tim Frye, Mark Parish and most of all to the 1st place winner Mike Purkis for playing some excellent DG.....also to Bill Haley for his great company and conversation....and most of all to Miggy G for his long trek to visit his Old man playing DG...Thanks Mick...

History

In 1976, after graduating from Penn State, Jim Powers along with Joe D'Annunzio, Rick Vlam founded the Philadelphia Frisbee Club. Jim played Ultimate Frisbee in college, starting the Penn State Ultimate Team in 1974. Once back in the Philadelphia area he formed the new club by word of mouth and contacting local Frisbee Masters Joe D'Annunzio and Rick Vlam. The members were interested in all flying disc games including Ultimate, disc golf, freestyle, Double Disc Court and the field events of distance and self-caught-flight (maximum time aloft, MTA; throw run and catch, TRC). The club began meeting and playing weekly at several areas around the city, most notably in Valley Forge National Park outside of the city and within Philadelphia’s famousFairmount Park.

The club's motto was: "Advancement of physical and mental fitness through Frisbee sports and recreation.” Even though the club was dedicated to all Frisbee sports, Ultimate and disc golf quickly became the favorites among the PFC members. Wherever the members met for informal “pick-up” Ultimate they designed golf holes with natural tree targets or available manmade targets such as lampposts. Club members began to dream of a permanent Frisbee golf course for more structured play including tournaments.

The Pole Hole Disc Golf Target is Born

While Jim was establishing the PFC, "Steady Ed" Headrick and his son Ken were developing the Pole Hole, a disc golf target capable of catching and retaining a Frisbee. Steady Ed had just left Wham-O to set up his own company, the Disc Golf Association (DGA) and to found the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). Steady Ed, like members of the PFC in Philadelphia, especially enjoyed the game of Frisbee golf. He and Ken believed that what the sport needed most was a standardized target. After testing numerous prototype baskets Steady Ed hit upon the idea of using suspended chains to arrest the forward motion of a disc and thereby allowing it to drop into a basket. Production of the first baskets followed after he and Ken patented their final design, later to be known as the Mach 1. They installed the first (and oldest permanent) Pole Hole course in Oak Grove Park in Pasadena, California, in 1976.

The IFA Connection

Wham-O brought Steady Ed and Jim together and that brought Pole Hole baskets to Sedgley Woods. Frisbee manufacturer Wham-O set up and funded the International Frisbee Association (IFA) in order to promote organized Frisbee play. To do this the IFA established Regional Directors, a group of dedicated Frisbee people, one from each of 12 regions across the country. The Regional Directors communicated with clubs and players, organized tournaments, sanctioned events and records, distributed rulebooks and many other similar activities. As Jim had just established a robust Frisbee club in a major metropolitan area he was appointed as the Regional Director of the Northeast region. He and the other Regional Directors were invited to participate in the IFA's "Invitational World Frisbee Championships" held at the Rose Bowl, in Pasadena, California. There Jim met Ed Headrick and Wham-O officials who indicated that they were interested in establishing the first Pole Hole disc golf course on the East Coast. Jim invited Ed and Wham-O reps to attend the first major PFC tournament, to be held on Belmont Plateau in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia.

The PFC Hosts its first Tournament

Early in 1977 the Philadelphia Frisbee Club hosted the multi-event "Philadelphia Frisbee Championships." The site for the competition was Belmont Plateau, a particularly beautiful section of Fairmount Park that overlooks the skyline of Philadelphia. The tournament was well attended, both with competitors and spectators. The disc golf portion of the tournament was played on a temporary "object course" where trees were used as the targets. Steady Ed and Wham-O representatives were so impressed with the club and Fairmount Park that they offered to donate 18 baskets and tee signs if the club would handle the installation. Jim contacted the Fairmount Park Commission and explained the offer. The commission responded favorably and after three meetings between the commission and the club, a site was chosen in West Fairmount Park.

This site, the first, was near the site of the tournament, just off Belmont Avenue. Here the club members met and began to layout 18 holes through the densely wooded area. After 4 weeks of work clearing our fairways through the trees, the park commission directed the club to another site, this time in East Fairmount Park. The name of the second site: Sedgley Woods.

The reason for the change is not documented. Perhaps the park commissioners wanted to bring this new activity to the largely unused East Park, particularly close to one of the most depressed areas of the city thinking that a new sports activity would help stabilize that portion of the park and the city. The first site lacked off street parking and some club members had hoped for a better site with the possibility for more amenities. The club redirected their efforts to the new site.

A Pennsylvania woman has been charged with joining a group overseas that sources said planned to kill a Swedish cartoonist whose drawings of the Prophet Muhammed provoked worldwide outrage.

A federal indictment unveiled Tuesday alleges that Colleen LaRose, 46, of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, called herself "Jihad Jane" and was also known as Fatima Larose. It says she agreed to kill a Swede on orders from unnamed terrorists and traveled to Europe to carry out the killing.

Federal sources told NBC News that the case is related to a group of people arrested in Ireland earlier Tuesday on suspicion of plotting against Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who depicted the Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog.

“Ridiculous” Beer Raids on Philly Bars

State police swarmed three Philly bars last week, confiscating gallons of beer that the owners say they bought legally.

State Rep. John Taylor says this was a “ridiculous use of manpower,” reports the Daily News.

More than a dozen state police officers raided three popular Philadelphia bars, all owned by Leigh Maida and Brendan Hartranft, seizing hundreds of bottle of expensive brews, as well as four kegs, on a “citizen’s complaint” tip that said nobody registered the names of the beers with the state Liquor Control Board.

The beer in question, at Resurrection Ale House on Grays Ferry Avenue, Local 44 in West Philly, and the MemphisTaproom in Port Richmond, was bought legally from licensed Pennsylvania distributors with all of the necessary taxes included, according to Hartranft and Maida.

Police allege that the beer was not registered by the brewers or importers, a state requirement in place since 1987 that includes a $75 fee for those manufacturers.

"I don't know why they would use that many people to track down an issue like this that could have been handled with a routine inspection," state Rep. John Taylor told the Daily News. Tayor's legislative district includes the Memphis Taproom.

Science Channel Refuses To Dumb Down Science Any Further

SILVER SPRING, MD—Frustrated by continued demands from viewers for more awesome and extreme programming, Science Channel president Clark Bunting told reporters Tuesday that his cable network was "completely incapable" of watering down science any further than it already had.

"Look, we've tried, we really have, but it's simply not possible to set the bar any lower," said a visibly exhausted Bunting, adding that he "could not in good conscience" make science any more mindless or insultingly juvenile. "We already have a show called Really Big Things, which is just ridiculous if you think about it, and one called Heavy Metal Taskforce, which I guess deals with science on some distant level, though I don't know what it is. Plus, there's Punkin Chunkin."

"Punkin Chunkin, for Christ's sake," added Bunting, referring to the popular program in which contestants launch oversized pumpkins into the air using catapults. "What more do you people want?"

Along with Bunting's remarks, the Science Channel issued a statement claiming that it currently airs more than 150 programming hours that are tangentially, and often laughably, related to science, and that staff members are unable to bring themselves to make those hours even more asinine. Debbie Myers, general manager of the Science Channel, said the cable station has maintained a balance of 5 percent science content and 95 percent mind-numbing drivel over the past few years, and that this was as far as they were willing to go.

A survey of the network's current schedule confirmed Monday that on-air demonstrations of such basic scientific principles as "inertia" and "momentum" are mostly relegated to pushing a blindfolded participant strapped to an office chair down a steep hill, while other concepts, such as "sublimation," are regularly demonstrated by strapping dynamite to a large fiberglass Big Boy statue and then watching it explode.

As evidence of their refusal to further water down programming, network sources pointed to a number of proposed shows they've abandoned in recent weeks, including an animal-based bungee-jumping program called Extreme Gravity, and Atom Smashers, a series that was was roundly rejected by focus groups as being "too technical" and "not awesome enough."

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross”. The English have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to a “Bloody Nuisance”. The last time the English issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was during the great fire of 1666.

The Scots raised their threat level from “Pissed Off” to “Let’s get the Bastards” – they don’t have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the frontline in the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from “Run” to “Hide”. The only two higher levels in France are “Collaborate” and “Surrender.” The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France ’s white flag factory, effectively paralysing the country’s military capability. It’s not only the French who are on a heightened level of alert. Italy has increased the alert level from “Shout loudly and excitedly” to “Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides.”

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

The USA meanwhile are carrying out pre-emptive strikes, on all of their allies, just in case.

New Zealand has also raised its security levels – from “baaa” to “BAAAA!”. Due to continuing defense cutbacks (the airforce being a squadron of spotty teenagers flying paper aeroplanes and the navy some toy boats in the Prime Minister’s bath), New Zealand only has one more level of escalation, which is “Shit, I hope Austrulia will come and rescue us”. In the event of invasion, New Zealander’s will be asked to gather together in a strategic defensive position called “Bondi”.

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from “No worries” to “She’ll be right, mate”. Three more escalation levels remain, “Crikey!’, “I think we’ll need to cancel the barbie this weekend” and “The barbie is cancelled”. So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level.

ird Object Zooming by Earth Wednesday is Likely an Asteroid

A weird object that left some observers wondering if it was a piece of space junk is most likely just a small asteroid, and will zoom close by Earth Wednesday, NASA scientists say. It may be visible to seasoned amateur astronomers as it passes harmlessly by the planet.

The space rock won't hit the Earth, but it will make its closest approach at 7:45 a.m. EST (1245 GMT) when it comes within 80,000 miles (130,000 km) of our planet. That's nearly one-third the distance between the Earth the moon.

Astronomers announced the discovery of the asteroid, which they named 2010 AL30, on Monday. It is relatively small, about 36 feet (11 meters) wide, NASA researchers said.

There was some early speculation that the object was a part of a derelict spacecraft, but NASA scientists have concluded that it is most likely a simple space rock flying near Earth.

"I looked at this object closely yesterday morning and concluded that this object is probably not artificial," said Paul Chodas, a scientist at NASA's Near-Earth Object Office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.

What makes 2010 AL30 weird is its orbit, which is almost exactly one Earth year long, leading to some discussion that it might be a man-made spacecraft launched in the recent past.

The world’s tallest building opened for business Monday. Next to Dubai’s business district stands the Burj Khalifa, whose 2,717 ft. spire reaches over 1,000 ft. higher than its closest competitor, Taipei 101.

The structure is named for Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. About $1.5 billion was invested in the Burj Khalifa, with an additional $20 billion invested in the surrounding neighborhood.

At 162 floors, the Burj Khalifa is expected to accommodate 25,000 people at a time: 160 Armani hotel rooms, 1,100 apartments and hundreds of corporate office suites. The building’s 57 elevators rise and fall at 33 feet per second.

The construction of the Empire State Building (381m) was conceived in the run-up to the Wall Street Crash and the Great Depression; the Sears Tower in Chicago (442m), built in 1974, came with the oil crisis and stagflation in the US; the Petronas Towers (452m) in Kuala Lumpur in 1997 coincided with the Asian financial crisis.

The correlation between the highest buildings and the lowest economic moments would be eerie were its reasons not so obvious — excessive credit, overconfidence and the culture of ostentation in an overheated economy.

Now Vodka Can Be Consumed as Food

Yevgeny Moskalev, a resident of Saint Petersburg, invented a technique that allows turning alcohol into powder. The good news is that the new technique allows doing it to any kind of alcohol, including whisky, cognac, wine and beer.

Yevgeny Moskalev, professor of Saint Petersburg Technological University, had his own reasons for the invention. In Soviet times, the scientist used to work for the defense industry and during perestroika he had to start freelancing.

The technology was tested on 96% spirit, and the know-how was patented. Moskalev learned to “can” ethanol drops into capsules. He does it by adding alcohol into melted wax in the process of mixing. Then the solution is dissipated, drops of wax harden and retain spirit molecules inside. This is how the idea of the experiment with Russian favorite drink was born. The powder version of vodka became popular since it was easier to carry and harder to break. “Dry” vodka can be wrapped in paper and carried around in a pocket or a bag. Vodka in a form of a pill would come handy at partiers when “consumers” would be able to calculate their exact required dosage. Yet, no vodka pills should be expected in near future.

“Unfortunately, spirit can be only retained in capsules made of stearic acid, so powdered vodka tastes like a candle. Generally, an unpleasant taste could be easily removed with flavoring agents. To be honest, I did not like vodka in pills. It is much better to eat it with a dessert spoon, although you can’t eat more than three or four spoons and the effect is weak. So, vodka is best consumed the old way,” the scientist explained.

Moskalev himself prefers the classic scheme – a shot glass and a pickle to chase it with. Yet, he understands that powdered alcohol could be interesting for bakers who have to use it for baked goods and ice cream all the time. The method can be also favored by pharmacists because it allows getting the exact dosage.

'Butchered man used for kebabs'

SUSPECTED cannibals killed a young man, ATE part of him and then sold other bits to a KEBAB house.

Cops also believe the 25-year-old victim's body parts may have been used to fill PIES too.

The trio of homeless men were arrested in Russia - accused of murdering the man with knives and a hammer.

Prosecutors revealed: "After carrying out the crime, the corpse was divided up - part of it was eaten and part of it was sold to a kiosk selling kebabs and pies."

Suspicions were raised when dismembered parts of a human body were found near a bus stop in the outskirts of the Russian city of Perm - which is 720 miles east of Moscow.

The three men all have criminal records, said Russian cops.

They have been arrested on suspicion of killing their victim - who has not been named - before chopping up his corpse to eat.

Dimech is the daughter of a Belgian-Congolese father and a Spanish mother. Her mother is originally from the Canary Islands.

Because of her grandparents' import-export business, she lived with her parents first in London, where she was born; and later in Chicago and La Habra, California, where she grew up. After her parents' separation at age 12, she moved to Barcelona with her mother and younger brother and sister. Having grown up in the United States, Dimech initially spoke only English when she first moved to Spain. She was placed in an American school at first, but later befriended some local Spanish children who helped teach her Spanish.

During the 1960s she learned to play guitar and began to write her own songs. She styled her music after American folk music, and her idols included Bob Dylan, Donovan, and the Byrds. Later she joined the student band Pic-Nic as a singer, who in 1969 had a measure of success with a folk version of the Spanish children's song "Cállate niña". Other notable songs of theirs included "Amanecer" and "No digas nada".

After the band split up at the end of the 1960s, she moved to Vienna with her husband, a Hungarian football player named Laszlo Kristof. At the start of the 1970s, she began her solo career with her hit first single, "Soy rebelde" (I am a rebel). On the single, the record label misspelled her name as "Jeanette" (the correct spelling is Janette without the first E.) Ever since then, her stage name has been spelled with the additional E. The single first enjoyed success in Spanish-speaking countries, and later broadened its influence with French and English versions. This song and others penned by Manuel Alejandro, such as "El muchacho de los ojos tristes" and "Estoy triste" established her as an artist in Spain.

In 1981 she recorded another record: "Corazón de Poeta" which was composed, arranged and conducted by Manuel Alejandro, that gave her three hit singles: "Corazón de Poeta", "Frente a frente" & "Un día es un día".

FALLS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The arrest of a Morrisville man on Oct. 16 for allegedly exposing himself to two women and masturbating caused police here to stop and think and remember other similar incidents.

And yesterday, Falls police announced that Michael A. Parziale, 33, is being charged as the apparent serial masturbator who has accosted women in cars four times this month — three times at the Oxford Valley Shopping Center and once outside Giant Cleaners on West Trenton Avenue in Morrisville.

In addition, police said Parziale was also arrested on similar charges this week in Hamilton Township, N.J., where he once lived, and was released on bail. Details of that arrest were not available last night.

Falls police first arrested Parziale, 33, on Oct. 16 after he allegedly “parked his silver 1998 Saturn with N.J. registration next to two female victims” at the Petsmart store at the Court of Oxford Valley Shopping Center “and began putting his hands down his pants, exposed his genitals and masturbated,” Lt. Ron MacPherson reported.

The victims later identified him after he was detained by police. Parziale was booked into Bucks County Prison, but was released on $10,000 bail.

Investigators then learned that similar indecent exposure cases had been occurring with the same vehicle and subject descriptions, all between 8 and 10:20 p.m., MacPherson reported.

On Oct. 13, a man driving a silver Saturn pulled up alongside a woman at Giant Cleaners on West Trenton Avenue in Morrisville and exposed himself and masturbated.

“The victim called police, and the male fled in his vehicle,” MacPherson said.

The next day, back at Court of Oxford Valley, a woman parked at the Old Navy store “when a male in a silver Saturn began staring at her. She moved her vehicle to another parking spot, and the male moved his vehicle right next to her,” MacPherson said.

“The male then began exposing his genitals and masturbating. He drove away when he saw the female on her cell phone.”

A half-hour later, the silver Saturn was back at Old Navy for another incident. This time the female victim walked back into the store and the male left.

“On Oct. 19, Parziale responded to Falls Township Police headquarters” and “admitted to the previous incident exposures on Oct. 13 and the two on Oct. 14,” MacPherson said.

World Won't End in 2012, Mayans Insist

For the Mayans, Dec. 21, 2012 marks what one scholar calls "a special anniversary of creation." New Age pundits have taken this to mean the end of the world. But most Mayans, including tribal elder Apolinario Chile Pixtun, above, dismiss the idea as nonsense.

Definitely not, the Mayan Indian elder insists. "I came back from England last year and, man, they had me fed up with this stuff."

It can only get worse for him. Next month Hollywood's "2012" opens in cinemas, featuring earthquakes, meteor showers and a tsunami dumping an aircraft carrier on the White House.

At Cornell University, Ann Martin, who runs the "Curious? Ask an Astronomer" Web site, says people are scared.

"It's too bad that we're getting e-mails from fourth-graders who are saying that they're too young to die," Martin said. "We had a mother of two young children who was afraid she wouldn't live to see them grow up."

Chile Pixtun, a Guatemalan, says the doomsday theories spring from Western, not Mayan ideas.

A significant time period for the Mayas does end on the date, and enthusiasts have found a series of astronomical alignments they say coincide in 2012, including one that happens roughly only once every 25,800 years.

But most archaeologists, astronomers and Maya say the only thing likely to hit Earth is a meteor shower of New Age philosophy, pop astronomy, Internet doomsday rumors and TV specials such as one on the History Channel which mixes "predictions" from Nostradamus and the Mayas and asks: "Is 2012 the year the cosmic clock finally winds down to zero days, zero hope?"

It may sound all too much like other doomsday scenarios of recent decades — the 1987 Harmonic Convergence, the Jupiter Effect or "Planet X." But this one has some grains of archaeological basis.

One of them is Monument Six.

Found at an obscure ruin in southern Mexico during highway construction in the 1960s, the stone tablet almost didn't survive; the site was largely paved over and parts of the tablet were looted.

It's unique in that the remaining parts contain the equivalent of the date 2012. The inscription describes something that is supposed to occur in 2012 involving Bolon Yokte, a mysterious Mayan god associated with both war and creation.

However — shades of Indiana Jones — erosion and a crack in the stone make the end of the passage almost illegible.

Archaeologist Guillermo Bernal of Mexico's National Autonomous University interprets the last eroded glyphs as maybe saying, "He will descend from the sky." Spooky, perhaps, but Bernal notes there are other inscriptions at Mayan sites for dates far beyond 2012.

"If I went to some Mayan-speaking communities and asked people what is going to happen in 2012, they wouldn't have any idea," said Jose Huchim, a Yucatan Mayan archaeologist. "That the world is going to end? They wouldn't believe you. We have real concerns these days, like rain."

Maggotx has been busy keeping up with the Fall Disc Golf Events....On September 27 we held the Second Annual "Battle of Jersey" Disc Golf Tournament....This event held for the "locals" of the Central Jersey Disc Golf Alliance (CJDGA)... is a tough yet fun event featuring 1 Round at each of the Three (3) CJDGA courses.....

Course #1 was Max's DeBunker Hill....Max and his lovely wife had prepared a wondeful tasty breakfast prior to round 1....a Total of 10 players were all set to compete in the pouring rain...

After a great round in Max's wonderfully manicured course... we headed out to Rob's Bunker Hill course....

As you can see the weather warmed up but it was a bunch of wet Disc Golfers for Round #2.....after another fun round with lots of AWESOME IMPORTED BEERS, GREAT CTP's like the NUTSACK..and some awesome Pizza from Cranbury Pizza.....we headed out to complete the Tournament at Tim's Green Acres DG Course..

As can be seen from the last Pic....the crowd was much more relaxed...partly after a day full of Imbibing the Brew......After the last round we did some Hot Dog and Burger Grilling ate some of Maggotx's Chili and did some Hanging out....Max tore everybody up....winning the NUTSACK and being the Overall Low Score.....Way to Go Bro''.....

This last weekend Tom K., Tim E. Mike Rozz., and maggotx attended the Rutgers Bark Banger Competition......it was an excellent tournament run by JJ and Em....with help from Disc Golf Devils BOB and Jeff......the crowd was captivating, the food was sumptuous and the weather was enthralling ......a Great Time was had by All......We are all looking forward to next Year's BB Tournament.....

Next weekend Tom K., Tim E., and Maggotx will be competing in the ACE RACE at Tyler State Park...stay Tuned.....

This last weekend , Maggotx attended the Eric C Yetter Champions Cup....an "A" Tier PDGA event at nearby Tyler State Park in Pennsylvania... "The Enchanted Forest"... Disc Golf Course.....Day 1 got off with a Full Pro and Am card ......at total of 144 players ....Some notables such as Disc Golf World Champions Avery and Val Jenkins as well as may other top ranked others were there for the tough competition....

Here is a Picture of the Legendary BDGA Pre4sident BIG DOG Sweeton laying down the rules prior to the Tournament Start up.....Note Maggotx avidly paying attention sitting in the front Row... (what a GEEK)...

Anyway.....I spite of a decent 1st and fourth round I was not able to overcome a Horrendous 2nd round in the Tyler woods and in the rain....this kept me out of any winnings.....(sob... sob)....anyway....Kudos to Mike K for a good 1st place win....to Mark P and Tim F for a great tournament to Russ and Bob for some good play n the last round and most of all......to Bobby H for an awesome finish kicking me out of the lead card and winning the last round......BUT......as ARNOLD Says "I'll Be Back"....

Sheriff's Deputies in Martin County, FL, say they found over 1,000 images of child pornography on Griffin's home computer. Griffin's excuse? His cat downloaded the images while Griffin was out of the house.

If true, Griffin, 48, owns the cleverest yet most disturbed tabby in the world.

Griffin allegedly admitted that he "enjoyed" looking at a variety of pornographic images. So his cat knew its master.In his defense, Mr. Griffin told detectives "he would leave his computer on and his cat would jump on the keyboard. And when he returned there will be strange material downloaded."

He is jail, with bail set at a quarter million dollars. His cat roams free.

Maggotx Returns to NJ from Kansas City Disc Golf

After a week at the PDGA Worlds Disc Golf Championships I returned to scenic NJ and it's traffic and odors....anyway; here is a summary of my last week in KC.

Day 1 .....see previous post....

Day2 After the storm on Monday, the weather only got worse....it poured ALL DAY LONG for the entire first round at Rosedale Park in Kansas..I was not able to appreciate a Nice DG Course

I shot a very poor 72 in the rain....the second round scheduled for Rosedale Down Under, an adjacent course was postponed until Wednesday due to treacherous conditions.....

Day 3- Now I see why they postponed the second round the previous day... You risk life and limb to play this course....It is downhill from Rosedale and in deep woods, there are steep slopes with large rocks that the rain had made extremely slippery and tons of wety clay.tight fairways, tons of trees...rumor has it there were several injuries and some players dropped out....This course was an embarrassment for the PDGA to put in a World Championship....on several holes you actually had to use ropes to pull yourself up the hill to the basket..!!!!...Shot a 63 and a 57.......Playing 2 rounds in this mess was GRUELING to say the least...here is a typical hole....

After Dicg Golf Mrs X and I went to the Fly Mart for some disc and equipment purchases and signatures by the notable Pro's .......here is a copy of the signatures on a Special Edition 20th Year Commemorative Roc...

Day 4 - Gorgeous Day....1 Round scheduled for Cliff Drive......Nice Course....good mix of woods and open holes....some really neat cliff shots....played fairly well...until the end when I fell apart on one hole with 2 OB's and scored a 7....ended up shooting a 72 to match my first day ...I also lost my Quarter K II....not a good day....had Vietnamese Food for Dinner....

Cliff Drive...After Cliff Drive went to dinner at the Legendary Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue....Since 1957 the Fiorella family has been serving up gourmet hickory wood cookery. Highest rated Kansas City BBQ according to the Zagat Survey Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ has become a Kansas City tradition.
Maggotx's Mixed Sampler....BBQ Chicken, Ribs, Beef Burnt Ends, BBQ Kielbasi Baked Beans and Cheesy Corn Casserole.... a Jack Stack specialty....Awesome....

Day 5 - Played 2 Rounds at Pleasant Hills a beautiful open type DG course. A par 3 course...this one played to my strengths on approaches and putt accuracy vs long drives... I shot a nice 56 followed by a great 55 bringing me up a ton of spots on the board. I ended up placing #50 out of 72.....not as good as I had hoped.....but not too shabby....It was nice ending on a good note with good scores....

On Saturday Mrs X and I spent a day to ourselves checking out KC stopping at City Market and the Westwood District....A really nice scenic town...

On Sunday we drove to a Redneck town in Eastern Ohio at the West Virginia Border...The next day we travelled to NJ.....all in all we had a Great time....played with some really nice people (mostly) and played at some challenging courses......A trip to remember.....

Mrs X and Maggotx left NJ on Sat before dawn.... we drove 13 hours straight and spent the night in Effinham, Illinois.....nestled between Teutopolis and Funkhouser.....If you think I'm joking check out the link below....

anyway....I can't believe we stayed in the "Effing" place...but we woke up to a good omen....the Bud Light Lounge right outside our Hotel room....too bad it wasn't happy hour...!!!

We woke up early,, and after several more hours passed through beautiful St. Louis Mo.

After driving through a never ending landscape of Cows, Corn and Clouds... after a total of 1,200 miles we finally arrived in Kansas City, Mo.

We checked in at the Awesome Embassy Suites and secured our reservation....here is a view of the Atrium from our Hotel Room front door.......

After checking in we were driven by the hotel courtesy van to the Westin Crown Plaza, site of the Disc Golf World's events...I registered and received a Fantastic player's package....

we attended the player's meeting .....all the Big Name Open Players and Am's were present....over 900 players.....when we left the meeting, a HUGE storm ripped through Kansas City......with rain in the forecast the fields are expected to be a mess for the start date tomorrow...I have 2 games tomorrow, one at 11:00 am and one at 3:00 pm.

On Saturday July 18 the Disc Devils held the 2009 Jam. This was one of the best Jams ever with about 100 participants. We even had groups from as far as Massachusets show up. With a full house even the GrandMaster Division (50+ years) had 8 participants....especially the Newest GrandMaster Mr. Cubby himself.....

In between the first and second rounds we had a Great BBQ and were able to build up some needed energy for the 2nd round. When the results came in Cubby took 1st Place, maggotx was able to squeak out 2nd place, Mel took a VERY close 3rd place and Mike K came up next at 4th. Here is a picture of some of the Jam Paraphenelia and my winnings.

Mays, 50, was found unresponsive by his wife inside his Tampa, Fla.,home at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Tampa Police Department

William Darrell "Billy" Mays, Jr. (July 20, 1958 – June 28, 2009)^[3] was a television direct-response advertisement salesperson most notable for promoting OxiClean, Orange Glo, and other cleaning, home-based, and maintenance products. His distinctive beard and loud sales pitches made him a recognized television presence.^[4]

Mays was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, and began his career as salesman on the Atlantic City boardwalk. Last Weekend I particpated in the Great Eastern Amateur Disc Golf Tournament at Tyler State Park in Pennsylvania...

It was a Wonderfully run event due to the hard work of the Bucks County Disc Golf Alliance .......Congrats to Alan Sweeton.....playing in the Tournament in spite of his great difficulties with his cancer and treatment....You are an Inspiration to us ALL....!!!!!!.....

.In a Double screw up...Maggotx played poorly and the other Grandmaster participants played better...Congrats to Mike K and Tim F for placing 1st and 2nd respectively...you guys deserved it.....To slightly soften the blow of not placing in the top tier.....I did score a CTP (closest to pin) and won a regular Discraft Surge and Mini Disc for the Upcoming Vibram Championship to be held at Maple Hill Massachusetts this August.
