Pa. woman accused of recruiting jihadists

Indictment alleges American used Internet to spark terror overseas

A Pennsylvania woman has been charged with joining a group overseas that sources said planned to kill a Swedish cartoonist whose drawings of the Prophet Muhammed provoked worldwide outrage.
A federal indictment unveiled Tuesday alleges that Colleen LaRose, 46, of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, called herself "Jihad Jane" and was also known as Fatima Larose. It says she agreed to kill a Swede on orders from unnamed terrorists and traveled to Europe to carry out the killing.
Federal sources told NBC News that the case is related to a group of people arrested in Ireland earlier Tuesday on suspicion of plotting against Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who depicted the Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog.

“Ridiculous” Beer Raids on Philly Bars

State police swarmed three Philly bars last week, confiscating gallons of beer that the owners say they bought legally.
State Rep. John Taylor says this was a “ridiculous use of manpower,” reports the Daily News.
More than a dozen state police officers raided three popular Philadelphia bars, all owned by Leigh Maida and Brendan Hartranft, seizing hundreds of bottle of expensive brews, as well as four kegs, on a “citizen’s complaint” tip that said nobody registered the names of the beers with the state Liquor Control Board.
The beer in question, at Resurrection Ale House on Grays Ferry Avenue, Local 44 in West Philly, and the MemphisTaproom in Port Richmond, was bought legally from licensed Pennsylvania distributors with all of the necessary taxes included, according to Hartranft and Maida.
Police allege that the beer was not registered by the brewers or importers, a state requirement in place since 1987 that includes a $75 fee for those manufacturers.
"I don't know why they would use that many people to track down an issue like this that could have been handled with a routine inspection," state Rep. John Taylor told the Daily News. Tayor's legislative district includes the Memphis Taproom.

Apparently, there was a swat-like raid carried out simultaneously at all three bars, one of which is next door to me, to apprehend the criminals with their evil unregistered beers. The scourge of unregistered beer is corrupting our culture and is only a few steps from gun sales, gambling, and prostitution. These people should be put behind bars! I was there last night and was assured all of the beers on the menu were registered. Drinking unregistered beer means you're on the terrorists' side.

I would suggest that ALL of these stories are related. Jihad Jane Fatima Colleen LaRose and the PA
State Police are all suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder brought on by the unfathomably bad weather you all have experienced in the mid-Atlantic region! Suffering from SAD has been linked to all sorts of irratiional behavior including; leaving outdoor Holiday decorations up until May, pruning shrubs to look like deer, and even... twenty-someting men of Eastern European heritage (see newjerseynews.com)running around in bikinis and performing skits from the movie "Borat" in front of Plansboro, NJ police investigating stolen car reports!

Wow, Mahk. I've heard SAD is becoming more of a problem, but I had no idea it hit so many people and caused so much depression. I would like to see a study examining the possible link between bad winters and prevalence of SAD. I would not be surprised if they were linked. As far as the connection between bar raids and SAD...I really hope there's no correlation.

I agree, I've seen a lot of houses that still have holiday decorations up, and worse, they still remain to turn their lights on every night!

And that picture of Jihad Jane looks like there was a really powerful fan in front of her face while taking the picture, because she looks like her hair is being blown back forcefully and her face is being pulled back...lol but as an artist, i feel bad for the swedish cartoonist!
