Maggotx and work associate Cracked Pepper had a nice outdoor lunch today at Geno's Steaks in South Philly. As you all MUST know, Philly is home of the Cheese Steak.
Geno's is located in the South Philadelphia neighborhood at the intersection of 9th Street and Passyunk Avenue, directly across the street from rival Pat's King of Steaks, which claims to have invented the steak sandwich in 1930. The cheesesteak has become a signature dish for the city of Philadelphia, with Geno's laying claim to being the first to put cheese on a steak sandwich.
It was very tasty....those not so fortunate to be able to get one, here is a picture of a Philly Steak from Pat's across from Geno's......Our next trip will be to Pat's......A common way to order in South Philly is "Whiz, wit", meaning a cheesesteak with Cheez Whiz and fried onions....enjoy.......mag

Gotta get to the City of brotherly Love SOON!! Hey Maggotx, nice job of depicting the great sandwich of Phila.. almost better than The Guy from Boston!
The only problems was we went during the day on a weekday....the real excitement is at night with all the freaks, weirdos and wackjobs....Geno's owner has an Orange Humvee which I failed to take a picture of cause I forgot my cell phone...!!!..The Police Patch collection which is posted outside is also amazing....mag
Since i'll be there in another week, are you up for another trip to Philly? I'm sitting here eating some crappy cafe chile from work, and i look at the blog and the next thing i see is this gorgeous staek and cheese. I'm throwing the chili out !
Oooops!! I forgot to recommend that any visitor to Cheesesteak City check out Jim's steaks on south street. Great snadwiches, righteous brothahs and sistahs, and cool ambience (lotsa cool photos of celebs). Maybe not as good as Pat's or Geno's, but you won't really know til 'all try! And Vince, that's cheesesteak, not steak and cheese!
Anytime Anyplace, ....we will eat cheesesteaks....just tell me when BigBoy...........
looooksss so good! mickie must be lucky to eat that all the time! hahahaha
